Water: Swabia Creek at Lockridge Furnace Park

2014-11-05 08.25.18-2

For todays’ “Water” theme, we head back to Lockridge Furnace Park in Alburtis, PA to the small falls on the Swabia Creek. This tiny stream once supplied water to the furnace, but now provides a tranquil stream of water through the park. It is stocked with trout every year for fisherman since it can no longer sustain a living trout population. This is mainly due to abundance of chemicals from farming that pollute it and lack of cover to protect the streams banks. The stream is also being threatened by the large amount of development that is being done downstream due to the Jaindl Turkey Company. The stream is a tributary of the Little Lehigh Creek and eventually the Lehigh River.

This image was shot on a iPhone 5s on a Gorillapod using the Slow Shutter Cam iOS application and color adjustments in Googles’ SnapSeed iOS application. Watermark was added using the iWatermark iOS app.
